Mass Effect 3 only on EA’s Origin.

Mass Effect 3

Love it or hate it Mass effect 3, possibly the biggest game to be released in 2012 (and that’s saying something considering it is coming out in the first quarter of the year), will only be available on EA‘s origin for PC users. That means no Steam for all you steam users.

A lot of the PC community will probably kick up a big fuss since Origin is definitely not as liked as Steam, or even liked at all. There have been many complaints ever since Origin started for the one purpose of trying to beat Steam just because EA could and not because they actually wanted to deliver a better service. Such complaints as very slow download speeds, very bad customer service, mix ups with purchases of games and so on.

Harvey Norman

Some very interesting news has come to hand that Harvey Norman have decided to directly import games from overseas and dodge the GST – the very thing that Gerry Harvey had been whinging about other people doing just twelve months ago.

You can view the news about this announcement here.

It has only just gone live so if it is a bit slow or anything like that just give it a moment.

This will be a big thing for gamers in Australia as now you can buy cheaper games from overseas without resorting to websites such as and

The prices do seem very reasonable and the postage is only $4.

It seems that Electronic Arts and BioWare have stated that they are indeed releasing the game here and are aiming for a March 1st launch date.

The full write up about the release date can be found here, including the initial reactions from hardcore fans (hint: not very impressed with the long wait).

Yes I am fully aware that this is the 3rd MGR:R article in as many as two days, however today Destructoid posted an article containing an in depth interview with Hideo Kojima of Kojima Productions and Atushi Inaba from Platinum Games about the creation, cancellation and rebirth of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.

It’s a great read and well worth a look if you’re into that sort of thing.

You can read the Destructoid article here.

THQ Australia today announced the closure of two of it’s Australian studios due to focusing on their “High-Quality Owned IP’s”. The first is THQ Brisbane and the second is BlueTounge Entertainment in Melbourne which will close later this week.

This is a sad day for the Australian Developers as we lose two in one go from our already sparse games development studios.

Some of the THQ Brisbane games include, Jimmy Neutron: Attack of the Twonkies!, Spongebob Squarepants™: Lights, Camera, Pants!, AVATAR: The Last Airbander™ and AVATAR: The Last Airbender: The Burning Earth.

Monday Quickie – Thor and X-Men: Desitiny game trailers hit the web

Hot on the heels of yesterday’s blockbuster announcements of the Mass Effect 3 and Batman: Arkham City game reveal trailers at the Video Game Awards comes the sloppy seconds – Thor: God Of Thunder and X-Men: Destiny.

The Thor game looks unbelievably shit, the trailer is embedded below so that you can see for yourself…

X-Men: Destiny, on the other hand, doesn’t even show any actual gameplay, which makes me think that it could possibly be crap too.

Here’s a nice little extra benefit for people who are picking a copy of Fable III on Xbox 360 this week – Microsoft have released some extra new weapons as downloadable content and for a limited time and it’s free too.

If that’s you then be sure to grab this – if you’ve played Fable II you’ll know that you can use all the help you can get in these bloody games. :)

Thursday Quickie – New

Xbox 360

The website is being updated tomorrow and based on the screenshots of what it looks like, it actually looks pretty good! The main difference is that for the first time there is some actual value as an Xboxer to want to go to this site and use it for your gaming indulgence – update your avatar, check your online messages, friend requests and game requests all from one place – that’s the basics of a legit social network.

Good on Microsoft for making something useful. I’m looking forward to it. I wonder if the online web games will be any good – hopefully they will contribute to your gamerscore, as that would appeal to Xboxers.
