What a week.
First it was Mike Arrington from TechCrunch. Then Carol Bartz from Yahoo.
And in the trifecta of ever Apple fan’s dreams, 9TO5Mac wrote today that they reckon Steve Ballmer from Microsoft will be the next to lose his job.
My reaction? Absolutely fucking not.
There is only one way that Ballmer is leaving Microsoft and that’s through retirement. In fact, Ballmer has a plan to leave his post in 2017 when his kids are in their later years of schooling and he can be a fulltime dad.
In the meantime, for as long as Bill Gates is alive and can breathe free air, there is no way in hell as Chairman of the board that he will remove his close friend from the CEO post. For that reason alone (amongst countless others), we can simply take Seth Weintraub‘s provocative statement with a grain of salt, grin and laugh and say “nice try”.
Or “wishful thinking”. Either way.
Besides, Microsoft only finally shook off the shackles of US Government oversight a few months ago, so in the eyes of many, Ballmer’s tenure as CEO at Microsoft has actually only just begun.
